ABPY Small Scale Mining

 ABPY-Small Scale Mining

ABPY Artisanal Tailing Mineral Mining form part of our ABPY GROUP Family Company that's hold a good track record in the construction and mining sector.

Tailings Mineral Resources (TMR)

Artisanal mining that includes the activities of individuals (laborers) using mostly rudimentary mining methods, manual and rudimentary tools to access mineral ore, usually available on surface, or at shallow depths although, in South Africa, such mining often occurs at relatively deep levels.

Vision

We aim to unearth the world’s most beautiful product as responsibly and efficiently as possible. In doing so, we look to contribute to the sustainability of our industry and deliver long-term value to each of our stakeholders.

Our focus in the short-term continues to be on driving efficiencies across the business through Project 2030 to provide a stable, consistent operating platform to further enhance our cashflow generation and significantly reduce our net debt. This will provide for successful and sustainable operations and re position ABPY MINING as the leading mid-tier diamond and gold producer over the long term.

Company Sustainability strategy.

Our sustainability strategy is fundamental to the way we approach and manage our operations.

In order to ensure the success of our operations now and in the future, we need to maintain our licence to operate, foster an engaged, healthy and productive workforce, and enhance our local surroundings by cultivating our relationships with our partners and communities, and by protecting and rehabilitating the environment.

Board Implement sustainability.

The Board is assisted by ABPY's HSE and SED Committees, ensuring that we have Board-level oversight of the critical sustainability issues affecting the business and how they should be managed.

Each of our operations have sustainability objectives and specific indicators which are used to monitor and assess performance against targets on a mine-by-mine basis as well as at Group level.

We have a robust system of reporting on sustainability related indicators in place, with information flowing from mine-level committees to the Group Operational Steering Committee, Exco and then to the Board, via the HSE and SED Committees.

Most critical sustainability

First and foremost, we are striving for a zero harm workplace and see safety as the single most important personal and organisational value.

After this, I see the other critical challenges as maintaining a stable and appropriately skilled workforce; upholding positive relationships with our local communities, particularly in terms of managing expectations and communicating effectively about all aspects of our operations; ensuring access to a sufficient energy supply whilst curbing our emissions; the impact of climate change in the future on the availability of water; and finally underpinning all this is maintaining consumer trust in, and demand for, our product. Demonstrating a strong ethical case for buying natural, mined diamonds is critical in this regard.

Key opportunities

I believe that the private sector has one of the most important roles to play in the ‘Africa Rising’ story – first and foremost by providing stable employment opportunities.

Our operations are generally based in quite remote areas, where they are significant contributors to the local economy. As such, we have the opportunity to really make a difference to our communities. By focusing on initiatives that help poverty alleviation, provide education and training, encourage wellbeing for employees and communities and by protecting the environment, we can positively enhance our direct sphere of influence.

Diamond Tailing

-The Cullinan Mine

The Cullinan diamond mine is located in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The site is situated 40km east of Pretoria in Cullinan.

Koffiefontein Mine is a low grade deposit, but this is countered by the very high value of its diamond production.

The mine produces white stones of exceptional quality, a regular proportion of which are of between 5 and 30 carats, and occasional fancy pink diamonds. In 1994, a 232 carat diamond was recovered at Koffiefontein, being the largest rough diamond ever produced by the mine.

Gold Tailing

  • Tudor Shaft

1996, the government forcibly relocated thousands of people to Tudor Shaft, an abandoned mine tailings dump, from another informal settlement a few kilometers away with warnings from environmentalists about radioactive hazards. We creating a harzard free zone.
